Does Your Kid Hate Math?
Ask any elementary school student what subject they hate more than any other and the chances are that 9 out of 10 will say Math. I know my 1st daughter did. Why do you suppose this is true?
The main reason kids hate Math is that somewhere along the way, they havent quite understood a concept that was presented to them, and, often, before they do understand it, a new concept has been added. Before long, the child is so overwhelmed, they just five up and, as a result, decided they hate the subject.
I have always believed that most kids can learn just about anything if they are exposed to it using familiar surroundings and techniques and encouraged to proceed at their own pace.
I decided to enroll Sysil to Sakamoto. Briefly, the Sakamoto Math Method consists of three simple basic steps. The first step is analyzing the problem, determining the essential facts from the question, and grasping the relationship of the data to each other. Here, the students organize and co-relate the information systematically in a tabular form. The second step is translating the information gathered in the first step into a linear diagram. The linear diagram will help the students determine and understand the logic behind the calculations that they must do in the next step. In the last step, students write the equations and do the calculations to arrive at the final answer. Using the Sakamoto Math Method, children are trained to grasp the essence of the question and reduce it to a simple diagram formula. Thank God, Sysil can minimize her negative feeling on math now.
Depending on how far behind your child is in Math, and how strong their negative feeling are on the subject, it will take time to bring them back up to a level where they can function well. Dont give up. If you hang there, by the end of this school year, your children may be naming Math their favorite subject, rather than their most hated one.

Sysil's 2011 Piano Recital
Sysil has been with Andry Efendy Music Studio for almost a year now and I really see in her eyes she wants to play piano. She is commited and practice every week for improvement of her lessons.
On Feb 20, 2011 I attended Sysil's Piano Recital. She has performed well and she is very confident of playing piano. I am so proud of Sysil, keep it going!

A Touch of Pink
This isn't to say I've never celebrated Valentine's Day. In fact, I do with my office friends since the company have a valentine's program.
Talking about love, love is like playing the piano. First you must learn to play by the rules then you must forget the rules and play from your heart...I don't need ridiculous expensive red roses and I certainly don't need more chocolate..so as you can see, valentine's day never been a big deal for me...and for my husband, well he's not really big on any of those special days :p

Arla's 1st Day of School
Learning music offers a lot benefits. I personally believe that if there's one thing kids should learn in their lifetime, its music. Many studies have been conducted on the effects of music to brain. Scientists say that children who are exposed to music, do better in school than those who don't. Recent research suggest exposure to music may benefit a child's reading age, IQ and the development of certain parts of the brain.
Me and My hubby enrolled our 3 years old daughter at Indra Music School on last Saturday. I know Arla is enjoying her 1st day of school so much. She comes home and talks mostly about her new songs and I was so impressed that she was able to apply at home what she was learning at school. She often sings songs from school "jelly fish...jelly fish..." and various kinder bear songs - some I recognize, some I don't. We feel very fortunate for our experience with Arla's 1st day of school.

Purple oh Purple (Part 2)
Purple combines the stability of blue and the energy of red. Light purple is a good choice for a feminine design. It evokes romantic and nostalgic feelings ;)
